MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT

Introduction

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is a response to Section 54(1), Part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and relates to actions and activities for the financial year ending 31 March 2023.

Dignified Services Limited is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking violations in its own operations, its supply chain, and its products. We have zero-tolerance towards slavery and require our supply chain to comply with our values.

Organisational structure

We operate in the HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE sector. The nature of our supply chains is as follows: We supply staff to health and social care employers. Our staff work in the community assisting clients with complex care needs to remain in their own home whilst retaining their dignity.

Policies

We operate a number of internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include the following:

  • Recruitment and selection policy – Our recruitment and people management processes are designed to ensure that all employees are legally entitled to work in the UK and to safeguard employees from any abuse or coercion.
  • We do not enter into business with any organisation, in the UK or abroad, which knowingly supports or is found to be involved in slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.
  • Whistleblowing policy – We ensure all staff have knowledge of what modern slavery is (i.e., force labour, illegal working, human trafficking) and understand how to report this anonymously without the fear of reprisal. we have a robust route of investigation for any issues reported to us and will work with outside agencies if required.
  • Staff code of conduct – This outlines the requirements our staff must meet in order for our company to maintain the high standards of care we offer.
  • Our aims and objectives are transparent for each employee and they are aware of their working conditions, breaks, wages, holiday entitlement.
  • Aim that all staff attend regular training regarding confidentiality, professional competence, diligence and due care , as well as modern slavery training . All staff adhere to behaviour models during their given tasks and remain an advocate of our company.
  • Procurement policy – We have a requirement to deliver best value for money services within our company across all spends in accordance to agreed budgets, this ensures all staff are paid a living wage in accordance with government guidelines, and we can also offer value for money services to our clients.
  • We ensure that services we work with are ethically sourced, and we keep documented records to ensure misappropriation of funds is eliminated,
  • Safeguarding policy – Ensure systems are in place for the correct reporting of suspicions of abuse or harm to service users.
  • Have a management system in place to ensure proper investigation of abuse, and a care plan process that puts in place measures to protect the person from any further harm.
  • Inform staff regarding laws and policies that can be used to protect and support service users, and the staff who care for them.
  • Manage risk in a way that balances service users’ rights and your duty of care

Due Diligence

As part of our efforts to monitor and reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains, we have adopted the following due diligence procedures:

  • Checking certain suppliers with external third parties for any slavery or human trafficking risks.

Our due diligence procedures aim to:

  • Identify and action potential risks in our business and supply chains. Monitor potential risks in our business and supply chains
  • Reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our business and supply chains. Provide protection for whistleblowers.

Risk and compliance

UK supply chain through:

  • Evaluating the slavery and human trafficking risks of each new supplier.
  • Reviewing on a regular basis all aspects of the supply chain based on supply chain mapping.

We do not consider that we operate in a high-risk environment because We supply staff and undertake our own risk assessments too .

We do not tolerate slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains. Where there is evidence of failure to comply with our policies and procedures by any of our suppliers, we will seek to terminate our relationship with that supplier immediately.

Training our staff

Staff training covers:

  • How to identify the signs of slavery and human trafficking.
  • What initial steps should be taken if slavery or human trafficking is suspected. What external help is available.
